Stockholm Saxophone Quartet (SSQ) is heading west! This sympathetic, equilibristic, outstanding ensemble commissioned ”Desire encapsulated” and premiered it beautifully in Reykjavik, Dark Music Days, February 2014.
A little story about the piece here.
It was dedicated to my parents. One month after the premiere in Reykjavik, my mother died.
Half a year later, SSQ played the piece at Stockholm new music festival, and I brought my dad to the concert.
Immediately after listening, my father said firmly: I want this piece at my funeral.
And so it was.
