This was one of my most exceptional commissions so far. I was asked to compose new music for the Medal Awarding Ceremony for The Royal Orders of Knighthood (Kungl. Majt:s Orden), taking place 31/5 a the Royal Castle, Stockholm. Obviously, this was a very honorable mission and an exciting task; to take over the baton from Abbé Vogler who composed the previous ceremony music – which has been played for centuries. Until now.
The piece is written for various wind orchestras, and was premiered by Arméns Musikkår, conducted by Felix Bagge. Last time I made music among royalties was as stand-in soprano soloist in my choir piece Criança (Gustaf Sjökvists chamber choir) which was the Royal Academy of Music’s gift for H.M.queens Silvia’s 70th anniversary. But that is another story.
