Updating one of my most exceptional assignments (but I probably won’t be sewing a new dress this year…)
Last year I composed new music for the Medal Awarding Ceremony for The Royal Orders of Knighthood (Kungl. Majt:s Orden), taking place 31/5 2024 at the Royal Castle, Stockholm.
Obviously, this was a very honorable mission and an exciting task; to take over the baton from Abbé Vogler who composed the previous ceremony music – which has been played for centuries. Until 2024.
H.M.the King however, decided to change room for the ceremony, just a few days in advance, which meant the this particular piece had to be heavily shortened. 10 minutes became 3,20.
Now we have 2025, and for this year’s ceremony I was asked (which I approved) to do a more ”real” 3-minute arrangement for only ten musicians from Arméns Musikkår, which I am really happy to do. The arrangement will now be tailored for this smaller room. And everyone is happy:)
